Parametric Interior Wall Covering

Modulid is an online configurator for parametric, three-dimensional wall coverings that was developed by Lidauer Tischlerei GmbH in Scharnstein. The wall covering system consists of a wooden substructure and laminated MDF sheets that can be completely customized on the Modulid website which is followed by a highly automated production process of the individual elements. Creative Robotics investigated robotic CNC milling as an option for the parametric production process as it integrates seamless with the project‘s digital workflow set up in Rhino and Grasshopper. The research was funded by aws, with funds from the National Foundation for Research, Technology and Development.
