The New European Bauhaus Satellite Event took place for the first time in Linz under the motto “Co-Create Linz”. One of the satellite events was the Digital MUDness workshop on Friday 18 May 2024 at the Tabakfabrik Linz. The focus of this experimental workshop was to create a synergy and exchange of expertise between Creative Robotics and BASEhabitat at the University of Arts Linz by combining high-tech robotics (Creative Robotics) with earth building material (BASEhabitat). Students were encouraged to get their hands dirty by feeling the mix of earth, fibre and water. During the workshop, visitors experienced the digital fabrication side by watching the KUKA arm cut a block of mud. This experiment raised many questions and opened up possibilities for future projects. As a result of the event, an internal collaboration between the two departments has been initiated, focusing on sustainable building techniques for the future.
